Firefighters and tanker trucks from throughout the area were dispatched to 2078 Evergreen Drive, near the intersection of Oak Lane near Mantzville in West Penn Township, following a report of a structure fire Wednesday. When they arrived, they noticed the home was filled with smoke. Following an investigation, the cause was traced to a blocked chimney. It was also noted that the homeowners use a combination oil and wood pellet system to heat their home. Firefighters remaining on scene to expel the smoke via large exhaust fans were from Mahoning Valley and West Penn Fire companies. Penn Mahoning Ambulance also responded. West Penn Fire Police closed the area for the response. No serious injuries were reported.
