Two street reconstruction projects are scheduled for this spring or summer in Lehighton borough.

Public meetings with residents along the affected streets will be held Thursday in the Lehighton Municipal Building, said Bruce Steigerwalt, borough engineer.The projects will occur on Stedman Avenue and North Eighth Street.There also is sewerage system work slated for these two streets as well as East Side Avenue in the Meadowcrest section.Steigerwalt said a meeting on the sewerage system work on the three streets will begin at 6:30 p.m.At 7:30 p.m., in the Municipal Building, there will be a meeting on the street reconstruction and curbing requirements for Stedman Street residents.Steigerwalt reported to the council that PennDOT will not allow any construction work to cross Mahoning Street. Instead, the sewage work must consist of boring beneath Mahoning Street.
