Lauren E. Ward of Tamaqua, a freshman student at Lebanon Valley College, Annville, was one of 161 first semester freshmen and transfer students recognized by the college for making an impact on the campus as a new student.

The Celebration of Student Success reception, held Feb. 17 in the Neidig-Garber Science Center atrium, honored the students' achievement.

The honorees were nominated by faculty and administrators for standing out in the classroom, in their work with classmates, as student leaders, in on-campus employment, or in extra-curricular activities such as athletics, performance and volunteerism.

Ward, a 2010 Tamaqua Area High School graduate, was also named to the Dean's list for the Fall 2010 Semester. She is majoring in music education and music. Dean's list students must maintain a grade point average of 3.4 or above on a four-point scale.
