State Rep. Heffley opens Albrightsville area office

Rep. Doyle Heffley opened his new administrative office in Penn Forest Township in the Frosty Mountain Plaza, on Route 903 Friday. The office provides many useful resources for all state and federal programs, assistance and opportunities.
Janine Partenio, district constituent outreach specialist for Heffley, will be on hand at the Albrightsville area location to help provide information and services Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Heffley noted that the services his office offers are extensive and include helping veterans cut through red tape to get help with what benefits are offered to them; Medicare and Medicaid questions; applications and tax rebate information, and also help navigating through the process.
In addition to helping constituents with state and federal forms, Partenio is a notary public and Heffley's office will offer this service and copying and faxing of all state and government forms at no cost to constituents. Heffley said he is eager to welcome all constituents to the new location during business hours, and hopes to meet many constituents at the planned open house on Friday, April 29 from 4:30-7 p.m.
Heffley will be welcoming veterans and families to the Mobile Vet Center from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. March 29, April 26 and May 24 at the American Legion Post 314, 314 Veterans Avenue in Lehighton. The center works with the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre. The focus of the Vet Center is combat veteran readjustment counselors and PTSD counseling. The Vet Center does not assist with claims, but is addressing the populations of military and military families affected by the long term stress of returning service members.
In the past military families have suffered silently or alone without local resources geared specifically to returning vets. The Mobile Vet Center is addressing the gap in distance. Military families are seeking referrals and counseling and are lessoning symptoms contributed to high stress or combat environments.
The Mobile Vet Center will provide numerous services and Heffley encourages all veterans to come out during those three days and learn about what is offered, including: individual and group counseling, marital and family counseling, alcohol and drug counseling, medical referrals, employment counseling, bereavement counseling, information and referrals to community resources.
