Zoning hearing lacks a quorum

Published March 25. 2011 05:01PM

A hearing by the Lehighton Zoning Hearing Board scheduled for last night to discuss an expansion plan by the Lehighton Fire Department was postponed because of the lack of a quorum.

Only two of the five zoning board members were present.

The zoning members in attendance were Randall Semmel and Chairman George Petrole.

Absent were Mary Lou Brophy, who was out of town; Ricky Graver, and Marie Vrablic.

Also present was attorney William Bayer, the borough solicitor, as well as a court stenographer.

The hearing was rescheduled for 7 p.m. on April 28.

The fire department is proposing connecting Station 1 with Station 2 on South Third Street, which involves the demolition of three houses.

More bays will be added to the fire department if the project becomes a reality.
