Rush Twp. police probe accidents

Rush Township Police responded to two motor vehicle accidents on March 16.

At 3:15 p.m. a 1998 Pontiac driven by Christine Reeves, 39, of Lehighton, was attempting to exit the parking lot of the Hometown Nursing and Rehabilitation onto SR54 and struck a 2008 Volkswagen driven by Raeanne Whitaker, 44, Lehighton, which was traveling east on 54. Reeves stated she did not see the Whitaker vehicle, police said. There were no injuries reported. Whitaker's vehicle was towed from the scene.

At 3:48 p.m. a 2007 Colbolt driven by Leah A. Cassano, 44, of Weston, was attempting to enter the roadway from Sunset Street onto SR309 and was struck by a 2010 Scion driven by Aaron Dolena, 25, of Nesquehoning. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Cassano was taken to St. Luke's Miners Hospital, Coaldale, by Tamaqua Ambulance for facial injuries.
