Three district judges unopposed; fourth district has eight candidates
Three incumbent district judges of magisterial districts in Schuylkill County have no opposition in their bid for reelection in the Primary Election on Tuesday, May 17, but in the district in the Frackville area, where there is a vacancy, there are eight candidates seeking the nomination or election. The term of office is six years.
District 21-3-6, in which Stephen J. Bayer, of 251 Owl Creek Road, Tamaqua, presides, he has filed nominating petitions on the Republican and Democratic ballots and has no opposition on either ballot. His district comprises Coaldale, McAdoo and Tamaqua Borougjhs and Kline and Rush Townships.
District 21-3-03, in which James R. Ferrier, 632 Moyer's Station Road, Schuylkill Haven, presides has also cross-filed and is unopposed. HIs district consists of Auburn, Cressona, Deer Lake, Landingville, New Ringgold, Orwigsburg, Port Clinton and Schuylkill Haven boroughs and East Brunswick, North Manheim, South Manheim, Walker, Wayne and West Brunswick townships.
District 21-3-7, in whch JImmy Reiley, 1504 Howard Avenue, Pottsville, presides has also cross-filed and is unopposed. His district comprises of the borough of Mount Carbon and city of Pottsville.
District 21-2-1, of which Bernadette Nahas, Frackville, presided but who retired several months ago, has eight candidates seeking to succeed her as the district judge for the area which includes Ashland, Frackville, Gilberton, Girardville, Gordon and Ringtown boroughs and Butler, North Union, Ryan, Union and the Altamont Section of West Mahanoy townships.
Candidates who cross-filed are, Mary Lou Hannon, 2518 Water St., Mahanoy Plane; Karen Noon, 2428 Spruce St., Ashland; Karen L. Domalakes, 39 S. Third St., Frackville; Christina E. Hale, 273 Malones Rd., Ashland; John M. Hampton, 121 S. McKnight St., Gordon; Anthony Tony J. Urban, 45 Brown Lane, Ashland; and Vincent Roman, 103 Broad Mountain Avenue, Frackville. Philip Beaver, 224 W. Main St., Ringtown, only filed on the Republican ballot.
