Selected for Region V Band Festival, set for March 24-26

Steven Christ, Senior Clarinetist with the Tamaqua Area H.S. 'Raider' Band was been selected to participate in the 2011 Pennsylvania Music Educators Region V Band Festival, to be held March 24-26, at North Schuylkill Junior-Senior High School in Fountain Springs.

Steven is the son of Mark and Audrey Christ of Hometown and plays clarinet, saxophone and trombone in all of the school's ensembles as well as the Gabrielle Youth Symphony, District 10 Band and Schuylkill County Band and has represented TAHS in the Macy's All-American High School Band for the past three years in New York City. As recently as this past summer, Steven played with the Cressona Community Band.

The guest conductor for this festival is Dr. Andrew Yosviak who is an Assistant Professor of Music at West Chester University, where he conducts the Golden Ram Marching Band, the Contemporary Wind Ensemble, teaches conducting and courses in music education.

The festival host at North Schuylkill High School is Matt Tenaglia.
