Theft incidents probed

State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating two theft incidents, in one incident a fire company is the victim and in the second a firefighter.

Troopers said unknown criminals removed a generator from the back of a vehicle owned by the Independent Hose Company, East Norwegian Township, sometime between 11 p.m. on June 23 and 1 p.m. June 24. Troopers said the generator was used earlier in the evening at the fire company's annual carnival.

The second theft occurred earlier in the week. Lawrence Shutt, 55, of West Grand Ave., Sheridan, Porter Township, reported his unlocked vehicle was entered and removed as a portable county fire hand held radio, valued at $800. The theft occurred sometime between 10 p.m. June 21 and 7 p.m. on June 22.

The radio is black in color and is a Motorola model PR860 with serial number 136WKE1200.

Anyone with information cocerning either incident is asked to call troopers at (570) 593-2000.
