Towamensing Elementary School sixth graders graduate

Towamensing Elementary School held its Sixth Grade Graduation and awards ceremony on Thursday, June 9.

The graduates and future Class of 2017 wore gray and white Blue Bomber t-shirts.There were 47 "graduates." They are: Maclain Allen, Cody Archer, Shaunalea Archer, Tasia Biege, Alexander Bortz, Charles Burke, Dillon Camacho, Alexandra Crispo, Abigail Darwin, Austin Debski, Allison Dugan, Emily Dugan, Jonathan Gebhard, Cole George, Gage Green, Jacob Green, Trevor Greig, Jacob Gross, Justin Hahn, Brian Henry, Riad Kapur, Taylor Keister, Samantha Kester, Andrew Kmetz, Lynde Kuntz, Becky Leech, Heather Leech, Angel Levering, Loren Leyfert, Mya Machinski, Mercedes Melo, Alyssa Miller, Jared Mooney, Rachel Moser, Alyssa Olewine, Amanda Plocinik, Adrian Potoczak, Joshua Ritter, Jarrod Rodgers, Adrianna Romanishan, Janna Silliman, Hunter Smith, Michael Stasko, Becca Sterling, Victoria Taschler, Gerald Zielinski and Cody Zrinkski.Several students received recognition for their accomplishments, along with the other grades, third through sixth.Ms. Dieze led the student body in singing the school song, Towamensing Elementary, written by Mr. Tom Heinze as his retirement gift in 2006.Principal Christine Steigerwalt asked that all the students whose names would be announced for recognition in maintaining an Outstanding in all four makring periods in music, flutephones karate, student chorus, instrumental music, art achievement to stand and be recognized.Faculty Student Council advisors, Mrs. Jodi Kocher and Mrs. Stacey Olewine, recognized Student Council members: Third grade-Mitchell Hourt, Kora Schembri, John McCabe, Andrew Sabo, Trent Giest, Logan Kresge; Fourth grade-Kylie Bernhard, Ezekiel Himmelwright, Benjamin Serfass, Aaron Stasko, Matthew Binder, Devyn Hauser; Fifth grade-Timothy Maradeo, Avery Neipert, Elizabeth Dailey, Colby Moyer; Sixth grade-Mercedes Melo, Amanda Plocinik, Loren Leyfert, Maya Machinski, Alyssa Olewine (Student Advisor).Fifth and sixth grade peer tutors, 4th-6th grade Environmental Club, K-6th grade perfect attendance, 3rd-6th grades students that made honor roll all four marking periods, 3rd-6th graders who made Principal's List all four marking periods, were all recognized.The students that had perfect attendance for the school year are: Elizabeth Melber, Natalie Mosier, Trey Sterling, Madison Anthony, Kaleb Einter, Wyatt Werner, Deric Sterling, Megan Serfass, Emily Dailey, Nathan Ragin, Aaron Conway, Nathaniel Galgoci, Adrian Holthausen, Ashley Mosier, Ezekiel Himmelwright, Gabriella Taschler, Christopher Neff, Alexander Bortz, Angel Levering and Brian Henry.Four students received the Senator Argall Good Citizenship Award. The recipients of the award "exemplify the qualities of good citizenship through their display of outstanding character, leadership and scholarship. They also demonstrate the willingness to accept responsibility and challenges put forth by the faculty of our school." The students were: Amanda Plocinik, Mercedes Melo, Alyssa Olewine and Maclain Allen.The Principal's Plaque is the award given to students that make the Principal's Lists in grades third through sixth. Principal's List is all A's and all satisfactory in specials (P.E., Art, Health, Music and Library). This year there was only one student to achieve that award and it was sixth grader Lynde Kuntz.Principal Steigerwalt wished the sixth grade well as they "Soar into 7th grade.""Sixth grade, you will hold a special place in my heart because you were my first sixth grade at Towamensing Elementary."
