State police at Lehighton are pictured taking Randy Joe Whiteman Jr., 31, of Lehighton, into custody after responding to an assault at 593 Lower Nis Hollow Drive in East Penn Township. The incident occurred about 7:20 p.m. Troopers said Whiteman was arrested following a domestic violence incident in which he allegedly choked, kicked and punched a family member causing them to seek medical treatment at an area hospital. Whiteman was charged with simple assault and harassment, troopers said. Troopers were assisted by Mahoning Township police. Whiteman also sustained injuries and was treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics.
