Woman, 22, facing sexual charges with 16-year-old
A 22-year-old Parryville woman, who says she is pregnant with a child from a 16-year-old boy, is facing court charges.
Elizabeth Gail VanHorn allegedly had sexual relations with the boy for the past 14 months when the boy was 14.
She has been charged by state police with statutory sexual assault, indecent assault, and harassment.
She was arraigned before District Judge Edward Lewis of Jim Thorpe and freed on 10 percent bail. The bail was set at $25,000.
Detective Lee Marzen of the Jim Thorpe Police Department is the investigating officer.
Detective Marzen writes in the affidavit that he was "assigned a case of statutory rape on Aug. 6, 2010."
He said the male juvenile told him at that time that he started dating and having a sexual relationship with VanHorn which began around May of 2009 when the boy was 14 and VanHorn was 19.
Marzen writes in the affidavit that when he interviewed the defendant, "VanHorn stated that she was aware that the victim was only 14 years of age at the time she started having sex with him. VanHorn also indicated that she was pregnant with the victim's baby."
He adds in the affidavit, "VanHorn was advised to not have contact with the victim, or his family. VanHorn had continuously called, texted, sent letters, stalked, posted messages on Facebook to the victim or talked about the victim. VanHorn began the harassment after the interview and has continued."
A hearing for VanHorn is scheduled for June 22.
