A window of sun on Saturday assurred for a great turnout at the 5th Annual ZooStock 5K Run/Walk Challenge to benefit the Carbon-Tamaqua unit of the American Cancer Society.

Runners and walkers were also encouraged to walk with their pets. The Panther Valley Running and Fitness Club took part in organizing the event. The 3.1-mile course stretched through the streets and roads of Lansford ending at The Sports Zoo and Halftime Bar Zoo Crew.

The run/walk was followed by award presentations and a food fest inside. Cancer survivors were also honored during the event.

Entertainment was provided by Cody Sassaman of Tamaqua.

"It was an great turnout and we hope to see everybody back again next year," race organizer Katie Moran noted.

Their next event is the 8th Annual Zoo Crew Putt and Brew which is a mini golf tournament followed by a post party to be held on July 16. For more information, call (570) 668-6450.
