Two Monroe Co. residents jailed on drug charges
Two Monroe County residents were jailed earlier this week on various drug charges.
Pocono Mountain Regional police said Saturday, June 11, police stopped a tractor-trailer rig along SR115 at the Interstate 80 exit, in Tobyhanna Township. The rig was operated by Chase Argot, 28, and his passenger was the rig owner, James Bidwell, 44, both of Pocono Lake. Police said the rig was stopped because officers had outstanding warrants for Argot and Bidwell for drug trafficking offenses.
The warrants were issued for a methamphetamine trafficking investigation which began in October 2010 and a traffic stop which occurred on Nov. 18, 2010.
An investigation at the vehicle stop led to a search warrant being obtained and K9 Niko being brought to the scene. The trained dog detected drugs present in the vehicle. Police said found in the rig was quantities of methamphetamine and evidence of drug trafficking.
Argo and Bidwell were taken into custody on the outstanding warrants. They were also charged with new drug counts incident to stop and search of the rig. Both were charged with possession with intent to deliver, manufature and distribution of a controlled substance, criminal conspiracy, possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The two were arraigned before District Judge Debby York, of Brodheadsville, and committed to the county prison in Snydersville with bail set at $100,000 on each.
