The alertness and willingness to get involved of a 67-year-old Slatington R. 2 man is credited with saving the life of a 2-year-old Slatington area girl. Claude Fenstermaker was working in his yard on a car when he heard a commotion. He spotted a pickup truck submerged in a pond and a woman near it. He assisted teh woman, Chaletta Morgans, who pointed and said her child was still in the truck. Erin Morgans miraculously floated atop the water about 20 feet from shore, where she was rescued by Fenstermaker.
