ACS makeover

The American Cancer Society will host a Look Good, Feel Better makeover workshop from 4-6 p.m., June 13, at the Carbon-Tamaqua Office of the American Cancer Society, 33 W. Ridge Street, Lansford.

The session is free and open to all local female cancer patients actively undergoing cancer treatment.

During the session, trained cosmetologists will meet with patients to discuss ways of using makeup and accessories to minimize appearance-related side effects of chemotherapy and radiation treatment.

Each woman will learn to apply makeup, using kits provided through the American Cancer Society's partnership with the Cosmetics, Toiletry and Fragrance Association and the National Cosmetology Association.

Seating is limited, so registration is required. To register, call 1-800-227-2345.

St. John UCC

The Rev. Kevin Duffy Guy will officiate at the 9:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. John United Church of Christ. The service will include Holy Communion and the Rite of Confirmation.

The service will be followed by a time of fellowship.

Activities for next week include: Wednesday, choir rehearsal at 7:30 p.m.

Zion Lewistown

The Rev. Sunny Stock will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Pentecost Sunday in Zion Church in the Lewistown Valley. The service will include Confirmation and Communion. Sunday school classes will be held at 9:30 a.m.

The Zion Youth group will meet Friday, from 7-9 p.m., in the social hall.

Zion Vacation Bible School will be held June 13-17, from 6-8:15 p.m.

First Methodist

The Rev. James Caravellero will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in First United Methodist Church.

Activities for next week include: Monday, Jesus in the Steps program meets at 7 p.m.; Tuesday, quilters meet at 9:30 a.m; Wednesday, Senior Choir rehearsal at 7:30 p.m.

The annual Strawberry Festival is scheduled for June 11, from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

The summer movie series is scheduled to begin June 26, at 7 p.m. The film "The Bishop's Wife," starring Loretta Young and Cary Grant, will be the feature presentation.

Due to Summerfest on June 19, the weekly worship service will be held at 6 p.m., Saturday, June 18.

Calvary Evangelical

The Rev. Brian Reading will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Children and Youth Sunday in Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley. Sunday school classes for all ages will be held at 9:15 a.m.

Also on Sunday, Christopher Hafer will continue with a series of Bible study sessions on the Book of Esther, at 6:30 p.m. at the Family Life Pavilion at the Lewistown Tabernacle.

An hour of prayer and praise will be held next Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Vacation Bible School will be held June 13-17, from 6-8:15 p.m. This will be held in conjunction with Zion's Church of the Lewistown Valley.
