Local health care experts to speak on heart attacks

A free educational event about symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of heart attacks will be offered by Blue Mountain Health System and Lehigh Valley Health Network from 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, at the Hyperbaric & Wound Healing Center and Conference Center at 6th and Iron streets, Lehighton. Light refreshments will be offered.

The event is free, but those wishing to attend must register by Tuesday, June 7. To register, call (610) 377-7070.

The 90-minute session features health care experts from the Blue Mountain Health System and Lehigh Valley Health Network.

The schedule is: 6-6:15 p.m. registration and light refreshments; 6:15 7:30 p.m.: What happens when you have a heart attack? What happens: At home? When EMS arrives? In the emergency department at Blue Mountain Health System? While you are transported to Lehigh Valley Health Network? In the cardiac catheterization laboratory at Lehigh Valley Health Network? During recovery? When you're discharged?

The session will conclude at 7:30 p.m.
