Volunteers are needed to assist at the 12th Carbon County Fair noted Liz McElwee, volunteer coordinator.

"It's all about having fun and so many of our volunteers return year after year," said McElwee. "They enjoy doing what they do best…volunteering and they enjoy being part of our fair family."

Each year at least two volunteers are recognized by the association during the opening ceremony.

Robert Silliman, fair board president, noted that last year's volunteers who were recognized during the opening ceremony include Dennis Cunfer of Lehighton and Liz McElwee of Pottsville, the Bond boys of Jim Thorpe and Concern Treatment Center, Lehighton.

McElwee noted that there are many volunteer opportunities available including, preparing and cleaning up of fairgrounds, office assisting, selling tickets, taking tickets, stamping hands, sharing information to fairgoers, providing security, parking cars, and assisting in the agriculture area.
