Semis are set

The Eastern Schuylkill Recreation Commission (ESRC) summer basketball league entered playoff mode with two opening round games on Monday evening at the Tamaqua Area Athletic Center.

Third-seeded R.R. Frey Services and fourth-seeded B & R Gym posted victories and have advanced to Wednesday evening's semifinals at the North and Middle Ward Playground in Tamaqua.


B & R Gym-

Cuz-N-Joe's Place

In a high-scoring affair, B & R Gym posted its second win over Cuz-N-Joe's Place in the span of a week to advance to Wednesday's semifinals against top-seed Ryan's Oil & Heating (9-0) with an 87-84 overtime victory.

Tony Gomez scored 27 points, buried four treys and hauled in seven rebounds to lead B & R Gym (7-3).

Jon Veet had 19 points in the Cuz-N-Joe's loss.

Big Dippers-

R.R. Frey Services

Defending champion R.R. Frey Services moved on to the semis with a 56-38 victory over Big Dippers.

Jimmy Barrontallied 14 points, three treys and eight rebounds in the victory for R.R. Frey.

For Big Dippers, Mike DeMarco had 15 points andnine rebounds.

R.R. Frey Services (8-2) will now match up against Guerilla Squad (7-2) on Wednesday evening.
