ANDREW LEIBENGUTH/TIMES NEWS Hundreds of people fought the intense heat by taking part in the Tamaqua Bungalow Pool's 22nd annual Splash Day held Sunday. The event started off with activities and games, such as limbo, dunk tank, water balloon wars, watermelon polo, and a special floating section, in which swimmers were allowed to bring their floatables in the pool. Kyle Smith, manager, said the event was a great success, pointing out over 350 people of all ages took part in the fun event. Assistant manager Adrian Bumbulsky said they also offered "mocktails", which were fun ice drink cocktails for kids. Special Splash Day specials were also offered on the menu of the concession stand operated by the Broad Street Deli. Smith also stressed appreciations to Citizens Fire Company, Tamaqua Elks Lodge, Burger King, Bob Jones, Adam Fritzinger, Robbie VanNorman and DJ Jack and Dave, who've donated their music entertainment for 22 consecutive years.Teams consisting of lifeguards and local residents compete in a cool game of watermelon polo during the 22nd annual Splash Day.
