Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center welcomes new medical director

It was a bittersweet day Thursday for the administration, employees and residents of the Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, as they say farewell to their medical director, Edward J. Miller, MD and welcomed Rosalee Rehrig, DO, the facility's new medical director.
Michael A. Mickey, NHA, president and CEO, presented Dr. Miller with an engraved silver tray in appreciation for his years of service to the nursing center.
After completing his residency at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston, N.J. in 1986, Dr. Miller opened a private practice in internal medicine in Lehighton. During that time, Dr. Miller also began providing care to the residents of the nursing center. In 1992, he became the nursing center's medical director.
In 2005, St. Luke's Physicians Group took over Dr. Miller's practice where he continued to work until 2010. In addition, Dr. Miller has been working in the cardiology department of St. Catherine's Medical Center, Ashland.
Dr. Miller has maintained offices for several committees such as the Utilization Review Committee, Palmerton Hospital, the Dream Come True board of directors and most recently, the medical executive committee with the Blue Mountain Health System.
He is board certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine and holds many other certificates.
He has recently accepted a position as a hospitalist for the Blue Mountain Health System.
Dr. Rehrig, DO, completed her residency in 2003 at St. Joseph's Medical Center, Reading. In July 2003, Dr. Rehrig started her own family practice in Lehighton. She became an attending physician for the Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and was also a family practice attending physician at Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital until August 2008. In addition, Dr. Rehrig, held medical director positions for both Odyssey and Arcadia hospices.
Dr. Rehrig is board certified with the American Board of Family Practice. Currently, she is involved with the safety committee at Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital. She has professional affiliations with the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Carbon County Medical Society, as well as several other affiliations.
Dr. Rehrig will begin her position as medical director on August 1.
