Improvements are planned for Palmerton water system
Palmerton's Municipal Authority plans to make improvements to its water system.
Bids will be accepted by the borough until 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1., at which time they will be opened.
The project is for improvements to the borough's Municipal Water Authority System for Groundwater Rule 4-Log Treatment at the Well "A" and Foundry Well sites.
All work shall be completed within 30 calendar days of the date of project commencement.
In general, the work will include the installation of 24-inch diameter ductile iron pipe water main and appurtenances at the Authority's Well "A" and Foundry Well sites.
Borough Manager Rodger Danielson said there are two well sites, each of which is expected to cost upward of $25,000. Funds for the project will come from the Municipal Authority's reserve fund, he said.
"It will be installing some additional piping, for retention time to meet new state guidelines so that there's a certain amount of chlorine contact time before it goes out to the customers," Danielson said. "It's not a very complicated project."
