Woman airlifted following 2-vehicle Hometown crash

One woman was airlifted following a two-vehicle accident that occurred in Hometown just before 9:45 p.m. last night.

Viorel Onea, Philadelphia, was reportedly driving south on SR309 in a grey Jeep Liberty, and attempted a left turn into Tide Road. His vehicle crossed into the path of David Clouser, Hometown, who was driving a white 1994 Jeep Wrangler north on SR309.The woman airlifted was a passenger in the Jeep Wrangler. No other serious injuries were reported.Firefighters had to use the jaws of life to remove the door from the Wrangler.Responding were firefighters and rescuers from Hometown, Tamaqua, West Penn and Quakake. Rush and Ryan Township Police also responded.A crosswalk light was also destroyed in the accident.Lehighton, Tamaqua and Ryan Township ambulances responded.Rush Township officers Corey Herring and Rich Sinton are investigating.Hometown Fire Police closed and detoured traffic on both sides of SR309 for the duration.
