Tamaqua underage drinking

Published July 16. 2011 09:02AM

Tamaqua Police arrested three individuals Thursday morning for underage drinking.

An officer was on patrol at 3:15 a.m., in the area of the Tamaqua Senior High School, when he observed two male teens walking in the area. As the police cruiser approached, the two young men fled. Minutes later, the officer observed a white vehicle turn on to Oak Street, from Orwigsburg Street, and quickly park.

The officer continued his patrol, looking for the teens, and returned to Oak Street minutes later. At that time, he heard noises coming from the white parked vehicle and exited the cruiser to investigate. He discovered three males crouched in the back seat.

The males were identified and included 18 year old Cody Estremera of 347 E. Union St., a 16 year old from Owl Creek and a 17 year old from Walker Township. All three admitted to drinking Miller Lite beer and were later released to family matters.

Citations for underage purchase, consumption and/or transport of alcoholic beverages were filed with District Judge Stephen Bayer, Tamaqua.
