A crash occurred on Interstate 81 at 5:12 a.m. Thursday, July 14, in Mahanoy Township, Schuylkill County when a vehicle struck a guide rail, say state police at Frackville.

Patrick J. Kelly Sr., 54, of Lansford, was traveling north in a 2000 Dodge Neon when his vehicle left the east side of the roadway and struck a metal guide rail with the right front end. The car then continued north against the guide rail for approximately 75 feet. The vehicle came to final rest against the guide rail facing northeast.

Police say Kelly left the scene of the crash before their arrival.

Kelly, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured.

He will be cited for the crash, troopers said.
