Downtown market returns to Tamaqua
The Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce has announced the Downtown Farm Market will return again to the North Railroad Street Parking lot. The lot is located across from the Tamaqua Railroad Station. Beginning July 16, the market will be open every Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The weekly market features fresh-from-the-field produce and other products from Leiby's Farm Market, owned by Eric and Barb Leiby, in the Lewistown Valley, along with delicious baked goods from My Nana's Kitchen, owned by Lucy Gerace of Tamaqua, and much more. The chamber invites other local farmers and fresh food producers to join them this year.
"The farm market has been a big success in the past, and we are always looking to expand the variety of goods", said Linda Yulanavage, the chamber's executive director. "This market truly is a taste of the best this area has to offer, providing a great opportunity for growers and producers to expand to a highly visible and easily accessible location."
In addition to Saturday mornings, the market is also available every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m, behind the Law Offices of Attorney Gary Marchalk, located at 204 East Broad St. "The convenient Tuesday market location behind the historic Shepp House brings fresh produce and baked goods to the employees and residents of the downtown, especially customers from the Majestic House and the ABC Tamaqua Hi Rise. "We are grateful to Attorney Marchalk for the space that allows us to offer this service to the downtown", said Yulanavage.
Anyone interested in participating in the market can get more information by calling the chamber office at (570) 668-1880, or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
