More than 200 visitors and fishermen ranging from children to adults took part in the Locust Lake Fish and Game Club's 7th annual catfish derby held over the weekend.

The 30-hour derby, held at the club's dam on Back Road in Barnesville, was made more fun as fishermen surrounded the dam with about two dozen tents and campfires for an added fun-filled night of socializing, fishing and camping.More than 300 catffish were stocked in the club's dam prior to the derby, 22 of which were tagged for prizes.The club's website states the objective of the club is to preserve and propagate fish and game as well as to protect and promote the lawful interests of persons interested in fishing and hunting. Club president Mark Petrey and chairmen Paul Yost and Joseph Michaels stressed their appreciation to all club members and volunteers for making the derby a fun event for all the participants. They also gave their appreciation to a few key sponsors, such as Paul Schmerfeld, Lakeside Beverage, Gary Marchalk and MarLin Meats.
