Traffic was backed up and one person was injured in Tamaqua around 8:30 a.m. today following a two vehicle accident that occurred in front of Access Services on Center Street, SR309. Reportedly, while driving a tan 1987 Chrysler Town and Country station wagon north on SR309, Paul Samuels of Slatington, drove into the path of a dark green 2011 Jeep Liberty driven by Charlotte Bubon of Coaldale. Bubon was pulling out of the Access Services parking lot when her Jeep was struck by the Chrysler. A witness on scene stated the Chrysler impacted the front of the exiting Jeep as the Chrysler, while traveling north on SR309, was passing a tractor trailer and other vehicles in a no passing lane. Paul Samuels was put on a stretcher by Tamaqua Ambulance paramedics and taken to St. Luke's Miners Hospital. Tamaqua Police officer Matthew Williams is still investigation. In the photo Tamaqua Police Chief Dave Mattson pulls open a jammed door to help Samuels get out of his vehicle.
