"Flying Fortress" to visit Lehigh Valley

Published July 12. 2011 05:02PM

"Aluminum Overcast," the experimental aircraft association's restored B-17 bomber, will descend upon Lehigh Valley International Airport in Allentown on Aug. 16 and 17. This is one of 70 tour stops scheduled for the aircraft during the EAA's 2011 Salute to Veterans national tour.

During the two-day event, visitors can learn about the history of the "Flying Fortress" and this type of aircraft, used during the World War II era; as well as take part in a unique opportunity, a flight in the bomber.

For more information on the flight, including rates for flights and ground tours, visit www.b17.org or contact the EAA's B-17 tour office at (800) 359-6217.

For more information on the EAA and its programs, call (800) JOIN-EAA (564-6322) or visit www.eaa.org.
