Model railroad

The Carbon Model Railroad Society will hold a Christmas in July open house at 529 Ore St., Bowmanstown, on Saturday and Sunday, July 9, 10, 16, and 17 from 1-5 p.m. The main HO scale display is in various stages of completion and is an excellent learning tool. The club's portable HO and N scale displays will also be in operation on the second floor. Admission is free. The building is air-conditioned. For more information, call Garry at (610) 826-6626.

VFW meeting

The Palmerton Memorial Post 7134 will hold its monthly meeting at the Palmerton VFW, 2020 Forest Inn Road, Palmerton, on Monday, July 11, at 7 p.m. Current VFW members, veterans, and active duty personnel from all service branches are invited to attend. Monthly meetings are held on the second Monday of each month. New members are welcome.

Community meal

A free community meal will be held from 5-6:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 12, at St. John's UCC, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton. All are welcome to enjoy a free meal and fellowship.

Park concert

On Sunday, July 10 at 7 p.m., the Pennsylvania Villagers will perform in the Palmerton Borough Park bandstand. Also, a special evening concert will be held on Wednesday, July 13, at 7 p.m. in the bandstand, and will feature the Palmerton Band. Bring a lawn chair. In case of rain, concerts will be held inside the Palmerton Borough Hall, 443 Delaware Ave.

Historical society

Members of the Palmerton Area Historical Society will be visiting the Jewish Synagogue in Lehighton. The group will leave from the parking lot across from Hager's Furniture store. Plan to meet to leave at 6:30 p.m. For more information, call (610) 767-2711.
