Tamaqua man charged

A Tamaqua man has been charged with robbing a Turkey Hill Minit Mart and attempting to rob a motel. State police at Hazleton identified the suspect as Charles S. Hausman.

According to troopers the Turkey Hill store along SR924 in Hazle Township was robbed about 3:51 a.m. on Sunday. Then on Sunday evening, about 10:28, a man entered the Ramada Inn along SR309 in the township and demanded money from the clerk. The clerk refused and the man fled. The clerk was able to give troopers a description of the man.

Later a man matching the description was seen in the Turkey Hill store at SR93 and the Airport Beltway in the township. He was taken into custody and identified as Hausman.

Hausman was charged with robbery, theft and retail theft for the incident at the Turkey Hill along SR924 earlier Sunday. Other charges are pending, troopers said.
