A Summit Hill man was charged by Coaldale police with two counts of driving under the influence (DUI) and crossing the center traffic line.

Officer Charles A. Blesse stopped John R. Lesniak, 22, of 19 W. Lehigh St., at 2:09 a.m. May 28 on SR209 near the ambulance garage. Blesse had noticed a gold Chevy truck cross over the double yellow lines into the oncoming lane and then over the white lines and back again, several times.

Blesse noticed the driver, identified as Lesniak, smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. He told Blesse he had drunk about 10 beers two hours earlier.

Lesniak failed field sobriety tests and a portable breath test and was arrested and taken to the station for another test.

Lesniak's blood alcohol content was measured at .14 percent at 2:57 a.m. The threshold for drunken driving is 0.08 percent.
