Carbon County firefighters were again called to perform a rescue at Glen Onoko Falls just north of Jim Thorpe Saturday afternoon.
The incident began at 3 p.m. when it was reported a man had fallen 30 feet from the hiking trail near the top of the falls. Fire companies from Jim Thorpe, Lehighton and Nesquehoning responded to the scene.
The rescue operation took two-and-a-half hours to remove the 52-year-old male from Brooklyn, N.Y. After being treated at the scene by members of the Jim Thorpe ambulance and Lehighton paramedics, he was flown via Penn Star helicopter to St. Luke's Hospital Trauma Center near Bethlehem.
Firefighters were hampered by sweltering temperatures.
