Elton John tribute at M.C. Opera House
JTAMS Productions Presents Greg Ransom's Benny and the Jets, an Elton John Tribute, at The Mauch Chunk Opera House at 14 W. Broadway in Jim Thorpe, on Saturday, July 2, at 8:30 p.m.
Bennie and the Jets is the world's premiere Elton John Tribute Band. Greg Ransom whose vocals, on stage mannerisms, and piano playing are exactly like those of Elton John.
Greg has the ability to make you believe that you're at an Elton John concert.
If you were to attend an Elton John concert today, you would miss seeing the plumage and costumes of yesteryear. Add to that the smokin' Bennie and the Jets band, the Opera House's superb acoustics and its in-house, 9-foot grand piano, and you've got a riveting show that will please any fan of classic pop music.
Greg Ransom began playing the piano at 10 years old. Thanks to a piano instructor with a slant towards rock, Greg's interest in playing piano ran through high school and continues on today with Bennie and the Jets who tour nationally.
Ransom's band mates are Dan Moraski on guitar and backing vocals, Steve Lawton on drums and backing vocals and Mike Gibbs on bass and backing vocals.
Greg Ransom emulates Elton John at his most garish stage, complete with outrageous outfits. At any given show he can be seen dressed in one of his many costumes such as a black suit bearing gold and silver sequin stars, straw hat and sunglasses belting out favorites from "Philadelphia Freedom" and a mellow rendition of John's tame, but melodic ballad "Your Song" to "Candle in the Wind."
Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the performance begins at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $23.
Parking is recommended downtown at the Carbon County Municipal Lot behind the train station.
