Schuylkill crashes

State police at Frackville reported investigating two, one-vehicle crashes this week on Schuylkill County roadways.

Troopers said the first crash occurred about 7:10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 24, along E. Schmaltz Dahl Road at Paint Road, in East Brunswick Township. Joel Haas, 35, no address given, was operating a 1992 Jeep Wrangler westbound and traveling too fast for conditions when he lost control on the snow-covered road. The vehicle went off onto the south side and struck a tree causing the Jeep to spin counter-clockwise across both lanes of travel. The Jeep then went off the north side and came to rest in a small embankment.

Hass was not injured but troopers said a juvenile passenger, who was not wearing a seat belt, was injured. Troopers, however, did not indicate if the juvenile required medical attention. Damages were moderate to the Jeep.

The second crash occurred about 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 26, along the Burma Road, near Firetower Road, in Blythe Township. Troopers said Herbert Miller Jr., 34, of Mahanoy City, was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier southbound when he lost control on the snow-covered road. The car went off the right side of the road and struck a tree.

Miller was not injured with damages moderate to the front end of the car, which was towed from the scene.
