Two Tamaqua motorists sentenced

Two Tamaqua motorists were among 10 who entered guilty pleas in Schuylkill County Court to driving under the influence (dui) of alcohol charges and were placed by Judge Jacqueline Russell.

Tiesha-Le Cristina Pagan, 24, of 108 Market St., was placed in the Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP) probation program for six months, and ordered to pay a fine of $1,000, pay $100 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, perform 20 hours community service, complete alcohol highway safe driving school, receive outpatient treatment and driver's license suspended 12 months.On a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana was given a concurrent 30 days probation sentence and for driving while operating privileges were suspended was fined $200 plus costs. Pagan was cited by Pottsville Patrolman Eugene M. Yourey.Steven Deskiewicz, 22, of 412 E. Union St., Tamaqua, was placed in the IPP for six months, pay a fine of $500, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $100 to Coaldale police for restitution, perform 20 hours of community service, complete safety school and license suspended 12 months. Deskiewicz was cited by West Penn Township Chief Brian Johnson.Other pleasOthers who entered pleas included:Tracy Ann Freed, 40, of 9 Walnut St., Middleport, on a DUI charge was placed in the IPP for six months, pay a fine of $500, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, perform 20 hours community service, complete safety school, receive outpatient counseling and license suspended 12 months.On charges of failing to drive on roadway laned for traffic and failing to drive at safe speed fined $25 each and for failing to wear seat belt fined $10 plus costs. Freed was cited by Trooper Scott Grochowsky when stopped on Ferndale Road in Blythe Township.Jeffrey Vincent Moore, 28, Saint Clair, two DUI charges was made eligible for the IPP by being placed 60 months, pay fines totaling $1,000, pay $500 to SAE fund, $400 to CJEA, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, perform 80 hours of community service, license suspended 18 months.On a charge of driving while operating privileges were suspended pay a fine of $500 and serve a concurrent 90 days in the program, failing to activate turning signals, $25 fine plus $63.50 costs, public drunkenness, $100 fine and costs, Moore was cited by Pottsville Patrolman Brian Kotzmoyer.William Price, 44, Mahanoy City, on a charge of driving while operating privileges were suspended-DUI related, placed under home confinement with electronic monitoring for 60 days followed by regular probation for six months, and pay a fine of $1,000. Michael Dissinger.Hector Moises Cabrera, 27, Reading, on a charge of DUI was placed in the IPP for six months, pay a fine of $1,000, pay $300 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, perform 20 hours community service, complete safety school, undergo intensive outpatient substance abuse treatment and license suspended 12 months.On a charge of failing to have car insurance fined $300 and failing to drive on roadway laned for traffic fined $25 plus costs. Cabrera was cited by Trooper Michael V. Ryan on SR61 near Cressona Mall.Michael John Conches, 38, Mount Carmel, on a charge of DUI was sentenced to serve 30 days in the county prison, followed by four years and 11 months in the IPP, pay a fine of $1,500, pay $100 to SAE fund, $100 to Catastrophe fund, perform 20 hours community services, complete safety school, receive outpatient treatment and license was suspended 18 months. Conches was cited by Tamaqua Patrolman Thomas Rodgers.Anna Marie Reedy, 38, Pottsville, on a charge of DUI was placed in IPP for six months, pay a fine of $1,000, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, perform 20 hours community service, complete safety school, complete structured mental health counseling and license suspended 12 months.On a charge of disorderly conduct was sentenced to a concurrent six months probation and for failing to have car insurance was fined $300 and costs. Welsh.John Rufus Templeton, 28, Mahanoy City, on a DUI charge was placed in the IPP for six months, pay a fine of $1,000, pay $300 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA), $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, perform 20 hours community service, complete safety school and license suspended 12 months. Templeton was cited by Pottsville Patrolman Joseph R. Welsh.Gloria M. Karpovich, 49, Ashland, on a DUI charge was placed in the IPP for six months, pay $1,000 fine, $100 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, perform 20 hours of community service, complete safety school and license suspended 12 months. On a charge of careless driving was fined $25 plus costs. Karpovich was cited by Butler Township Lt. Daniel Holderman.Each defendant must also pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
