Confused by nutrition labels? There's help

Published January 25. 2011 05:03PM

Does reading a nutrition label on your favorite box of cereal have you confused? Do you know what to look for to find better foods?

If you want to learn more about what the numbers on those labels mean, let Laura Smith, certified nutritionist, help.

Smith will explain how to read nutrition labels and the importance of understanding the nutritional value of the foods you eat at the Coaldale TOPS meeting held 6 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 16, in the Education Room of St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale. The free program is open to the public.

TOPS Club Inc., the original, nonprofit weight-loss support and wellness education organization, was established more than 62 years ago to champion weight-loss support and success.

Founded and headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, TOPS promotes successful, affordable weight management with a philosophy that combines healthy eating, regular exercise, wellness information, and support from others at weekly chapter meetings.

TOPS has about 170,000 members in nearly 10,000 chapters throughout the United States and Canada.

Visitors are welcome to attend their first TOPS meeting free of charge.
