Justin Yaich appointed to industrial development board

Carbon County commissioners on Thursday appointed Justin Yaich, Jim Thorpe, to a five-year term on the Industrial development board. They also appointed Jesse Walk to the county Planning Commission for a four-year term.

In other matters, commissioners:

*Approved a letter of agreement between the county and NHS Pennsylvania (doing business as) Mount Pocono OP Clinic, top provide psychological evaluation services at the county prison on an as-needed basis at $350 per evaluation;

*Signed an agreement with Otis Elevator Company, Allentown, to furnish and install a heater system in the hydraulic tank of the elevator in the county courthouse at a total cost of $1,209;

*Approved a service agreement with Sterling Solutions Inc., Bluffton, South Carolina, for maintenance and upgrades of the VIMS software in the county Veterans Affairs office. The agreement is effective March 1, 2011 to Feb. 28, 2012 at a cost of $700;

*Approved a child care provider agreement for Peebles day care, Gilbert, for $20 to $33.17 a day and a relative/neighbor child care services agreement with Barbara Kusko of Summit Hill for $6.75 to $14.66 a day.

*Approved a special activities agreement for the use of Mauch Chunk Lake Park for the Alzheimer's Family Fun Festival and Memory walk on Oct. 8, 2011, pending receipt of a certificate of insurance.
