Blood drive set in Tamaqua

Published January 21. 2011 05:00PM

An American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be held in Tamaqua on Wednesday, Jan. 26. The bloodmobile will be held from 1-6 p.m., in the social hall of St. John United Church of Christ, Pine and Biddle Streets. Double red cell donations will be accepted at this drive.

Anyone 17 or older, who weighs at least 110 pounds and is in generally good health is eligible to donate. To ensure a good donation experience, the Red Cross advises donors to get a good night's sleep the night before, as well as eating well and drinking plenty of liquids (non-alcoholic) prior to giving blood.

January is National Blood Donor Month. Blood may be donated every 56 days. Donor cards or some form of identification are required.
