A woman was seriously injured Tuesday when involved in a multi-vehicle crash in Carbon County. The crash occurred just before noon near the intersection of SR209 and Trachsville Hill Road in Towamensing Township. Reports from the scene indicate the woman was traveling north in a late model pickup truck when, for some unknown reason, the truck veered to the left striking a box type delivery truck head-on. Her vehicle continued on for a distance before colliding with a southbound sport utility vehicle. The crash occurred just a short distance from the Towmensing Township Fire Company and the Monroe County line. The Polk Township Fire Company responded as well. The woman was extricated from the wreckage by members of both fire companies. She was treated at the scene by members of the Palmerton ambulance and Lehighton paramedics then flown by PennStar helicopter to St. Luke's Hospital in Fountain Hill. The occupants of the delivery truck did not appear to be injured although an additional ambulance was called to the scene for the occupants of the sport utility vehicle. State police at Lehighton are investigating th incident.
