Church manger scene damaged

State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating an act of criminal mischief to a church manger scene.

Troopers said unknown criminals spray painted the baby Jesus in the manger scene in front of St. John's Lutheran Church, 6 W. Main St., Tremont, with red paint. The incident occurred sometime between 10 a.m. on Dec. 30 and 9:15 a.m on Dec. 31.

Troopers are also investigating an incident of criminal mischief that occurred along Dad Burnhams Road, in Washington Township. Troopers said unknown criminals used pink and white spray paint to vandalize several mailboxes, road signs, telephone poles and a vacant house owned by the U.S. government during the overnight hours of Dec. 31 to Jan. 1.
