Car gutted by fire in Summit Hill

Firefighters from the Mahoning Valley Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 and West Penn Fire Company responded to a car fire on West Mountain Top Road, at the top of Roads End Road on Bugsy's Hill, located between West Penn Township and Summit Hill, near the Schuylkill and Carbon county line, Sunday afternoon around 3 p.m. Reportedly the owners of a white AWD Subaru Legacy came back to their vehicle in an attempt to get it started. After spending a short while working on their vehicle, a small fire ignited in the front of the vehicle and quickly engulfed the car. The fire also spread to a few nearby trees. FIrefighters stated the flames reached over 20 feet high during its climax. West Penn Township and Summit Hill Police responded. No injuries were reported.
