Police from Tamaqua and Rush Township responded just before 2 a.m. Sunday to a report of an abandoned vehicle parked in the southbound lane of Tuscarora Park Road, SR1015, near the Tuscarora State Park entrance in Barnesville. When they arrived they noticed no one was with the vehicle and it had been heavily damaged after traveling a short distance off the road over an embankment around a nearby turn and then wound up traveling back on the road for about couple hundred feet with missing and deflated tires. As police remained on scene investigating the incident they were approached by an individual who was covered in blood walking towards them who strangely asked for a ride into Tamaqua. Police arrested the individual. Another person in a Jeep Cherokee was also taken into custody following a second incident that occurred while the officers were transporting the individual to St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital in Coaldale. Township police are still investigating.
