Monroe County to kick off 175th anniversary

Eldred Township Supervisor Sharon Solt noted that Wednesday, March 2 Monroe County will begin its kick-off of its 175th anniversary. It will be held at the Monroe County Commissioners meeting at 9:30 a.m. at the administration building, 1 Quaker Plaza, Stroudsburg.

The supervisors approved 3-0 a waiver request for modification regarding monumentation because there is existing monumentation for the James Johnston subdivision plan and annexation of the lands of Roger J. and Mira S.F.T. Hall made by Robert Beers, surveyor. Also, the supervisors gave the subdivision plan approval, 3-0.

The supervisors received notification that several Kunkletown Vol. Fire Co. volunteer firefighters completed a course of instruction in basic fire police. They are: Leon Frable, Jr., Kara Frable, Chris Conarty, Ray Miller, Nicole Belanger, Terry Van Buskirk, Kyle Frable, Louis Salerno, Jr.

Michael Kaspszyk, Eldred Township solicitor, reported that the township has received the deed for the triangle at Church Lane from St. Matthew's UCC.

Robert Beers gave a presentation of how he thinks Eldred should modify its steep slope ordinance and how it currently impacts certain property conditions. He used photographs and drawings of his own home and property as examples. The supervisors said they would take what he had to say under consideration.
