February 23, 1989 Jim Petch comes off the bench to score 24 points, including a follow-up shot with 25 seconds left to play that proves to be the game-winner, and Lehighton pulls out a 54-53 win over Palmerton in a Centennial League second-half playoff game held at Northern Lehigh. Petch scores nine of his points in the fourth quarter as the Indians, coached by Dan Novey, overcome a seven-point deficit. The winners also receive 10 points from Joe Gower while the Bombers get a team-high 23 from Ryan Roberts.
