Truck shears pole in Walker Township

Emergency responders were called to the 1400 block of Valley Road in Walker Township Thursday around 12:40 a.m. today. After hitting a patch of black ice, the driver of a red Chevrolet Blazer lost control, sheared off a pole, hit a number of large boulders and eventually came to a stop on the side of the road. The driver was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, for patient evaluation. Tamaqua Rescue Squad, South Ward Fire Company, Tamaqua, and New England Fire Company, Tamaqua fire police and police from both Tamaqua and Walker Township were assisting on scene.
