The Tamaqua LEO Club held its first annual Youth Valentine's dance recently in the gym of the Tamaqua Salvation Army for students in grades seven through 12.

Students were encouraged to bring in a canned good to get $1 off admission. The dance benefited the Tamaqua Salvation Army.

Special non-alcoholic frozen mixed-drink cocktails were also sold to raise donations for the Salvation Army.

Tamaqua LEO Club President Erin Zeigler and Tamaqua Lions Club LEO Club chief adviser Liz McElwee stated their appreciation to all the Salvation Army volunteers, LEOs and Lions Club members, as well as the chaperones, who put the event together. Special appreciations were also given to DJ Justin Imbody and the Planet Apple band who donated their time.

The LEO Club plans on holding this event yearly.

For more information about becoming a LEO, visit their Facebook page or contact a Tamaqua Lions Club member.
