Tamaqua Police are searching for a white male in connection with an attempted child abduction in the borough on Sunday evening. Officers were dispatched to the Tamaqua Italian Club on Schuylkill Avenue, shortly after 8 p.m., where they spoke with the victim and her father.

The 13-year-old girl told officers she had been walking in the area of the Five Points intersection when she was approached by a man driving a dark color Jeep. The man yelled to her, then stopped, exited the vehicle and grabbed her by the wrist.

She was able to break free and ran to the Italian Club to tell her dad. The father called 9-1-1.

The suspect is described as a white, thin, balding male in his mid-30s to mid-40s. He was last seen driving south on SR309 in a newer model, dark blue or black Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The child was not injured.

Police in Tamaqua and surrounding communities pulled over several vehicles matching the description, but no one was arrested.

Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call police at (570) 668-6100 or 668-5000.
