Tamaqua Elementary students hold Soup-er Bowl food drive

Tamaqua Elementary School students from grades two to five recently took part in the school's Soup-er Bowl food drive for the Tamaqua Salvation Army's food pantry. Students were encouraged to bring in a can and vote for their winning team with each can. Grades two and three raised over 120 cans, while grades four and five raised over 210 cans. Pictured with some of the donations with Elementary Principal Steven Behr and Salvation Army Major Sharon Whispell are second grade students, from left, Jessica Koscak, 8, Natassia Orach, 8, John Paceley, 8, Brianna Paulo, 8, Alicia Shaffer, 8, and Tyler Hazlett, 7. Both Behr and Whispell stressed their appreciation of all the students, parents, and school staff that participated in the food drive. The school district is a year-round supporter of the Salvation Army.
