Firefighters ready for cold weather disasters

Volunteer firefighters throughout our region routinely train in preparation for the worst types of disasters, some of which include apartment fires, power outage and multi-dwelling rescues. Coaldale firefighters spent Monday night training and preparing for the worst types of fire rescue by holding two back to back cold weather fire response drills in Coaldale, using their darkened firehouse as a apartment building on fire and without power. Firefighters checked their trucks and generators, with the aid of a quick photo flash, placed a connection on a fire hydrant They then, navigated through their firehouse, aka apartment building, in complete darkness and on their knees
